Grief Recovery Method®

What is it?

Grief is a natural response to loss. Yet, many of us carry the weight of unresolved grief for years, sometimes without fully realizing it. It often shows up as a mix of conflicting emotions—sadness, anger, guilt, numbness, or even relief. These feelings can be confusing, especially when they don’t fit society’s expectations of what grief “should” look like.

Grief is not just about death—it can arise from any major life change: the end of a relationship, a career transition, infertility, a move to a new country, loss of a pet or even joyful events like getting married or becoming a parent—where the loss of freedom or identity can stir unexpected emotions, like resentment or frustration or guilt. Left unspoken or unprocessed, these emotions build up and quietly weigh us down.

The Grief Recovery Method® is the only evidence-based grief program in the world, supported by research and proven effective in helping people heal from significant loss. It can be delivered individually or in a group setting and it offers a gentle, structured, and action-oriented approach to process and complete the pain of unresolved grief. Unlike traditional talk therapy, it doesn’t focus on analysis or diagnosis—instead, it provides clear, practical steps that lead to lasting emotional relief and long-term healing.

As a trained Grief Recovery Method® Specialist, I guide you through this process in a supportive and structured group setting. This is not group therapy—we don’t analyze past experiences or diagnose mental health conditions. Instead, we focus on learning and applying a step-by-step approach that allows you to process grief in a healthy and meaningful way.

One of the most valuable aspects of this method is that it’s a lifelong tool. Through the program, you will learn how to use this approach

yourself, so that whenever you face loss in the future—whether it’s the loss of a loved one, a relationship, a job, or a dream—you have a reliable and effective way to navigate your emotions and heal.

Grief is a personal journey, but you don’t have to go through it alone. This program offers a safe, structured space to process what you’ve been carrying and to take steps towards emotional healing.

Myths and beliefs

Many beliefs about grief are misleading. There are no universal stages, and time alone does not heal. Without active processing, pain can remain stuck for years.

Our society lacks collective rituals or shared responses to grief. As a result, many people suppress their emotions to avoid burdening others. Instead of true support, they often hear:

 “Time heals everything.”

 “Be strong.”

 “Keep yourself busy.”

These myths may come from a good place, but they don’t actually help. They often encourage people to suppress their emotions instead of working through them. As a result, people may turn to short-term energy-relievers—like overworking, excessive exercise, isolation, alcohol or binge-watching TV—to avoid pain. These may provide distraction, but not healing. These are just ways to temporarily numb the pain.

Why the Grief Recovery Method® Works

  • It’s effective because it involves deep emotional work that leads to meaningful closure. It’s structured, but not rigid—guided, but self-directed. It’s not a miracle fix, but it does provide a lifelong tool for healing both past and future losses. Even if your loss happened years ago, healing is still possible.
  • It goes beyond intellectual advices and rational strategies—it speaks to the heart, heals the emotions where grief truly lives.
  • The process does not mean you will stop loving the person you lost. Rather, it helps you release the unresolved emotions—like regret, guilt, or anger—that may be holding you back. It allows you to transform your relationship with the loss and continue forward with more peace.
  • Grief is part of life, but it doesn’t have to define your life. This method offers a safe, effective way to move forward—not by forgetting, but by healing.
  • You’ll complete the process for one loss in the group, and leave equipped to apply it again on your own. The method empowers you with skills, not dependency.

  • If you’re ready to gently release what you’ve been carrying, I invite you to reach out and take this step.
